Parent / Child

The Parent/Child feature in Huler enables organisations with multiple subsidiaries to create and manage individual portals, with centralised control.

Updated over 4 months ago

The Parent / Child functionality within Huler allows organisations with multiple subsidiaries to have their own portal. This feature will not be accessible within Huler by default and will need to be requested - please note, this functionality is a chargeable extension to HulerHub.

Below are a few instances where Parent / Child may benefit your organisation:

  • There is a singular parent organisation that has multiple subsidiaries. Some company policies/documents/resources are shared between the parent and child organisations. Other aspects are controlled solely by the child organisations.

  • A singular customer might want to create multiple instances of Huler, either for different aspects of their business, different clients that they work for, or different branches with different management/admin. All orgs would have their own branding, tiles, reporting areas etc but could be created and centrally managed by a parent org, rather than us managing each instance.

Organisations

Parents have the ability to create child orgs from their Hub. They can set an owner for a child org, set a number of licenses to allocate, and set any branding directly from the parent org. Parent admins can also add users directly to child orgs. All other settings need to be managed from within the child org. Parents can make themselves the owner of the child org, or make someone else the owner and make themselves an admin if they need to edit these settings, but they must log out of parent and into the child org.

Licenses

Parents buy a license allocation directly from Huler. They can then allocate this as they see fit amongst their child org. Parent orgs automatically have the remaining unused licenses as available within their org.

If the same email address has an account on the parent and any number of child sites it will only count for one license.

Once licenses have been allocated to child orgs, even if they are not yet filled they will be removed from the parent license count.

Admin

Child admin areas will resemble a regular admin area, with all the functionality you would expect. Parent admin area is similar with the addition of a new ‘organisations’ tab. This allows admins to manage their child orgs, and create new ones.

Tiles

Parent admins can now ‘manage organisations’ on upload and bookmark tiles. This allows them to make a ‘live copy’ of that tile on some or all of their child sites. This exists as a copy of the tile on the child site. The child admin cannot edit the tile content or appearance, but can control the visibility settings (audiences/is global). If/when the tile is updated on the parent it will automatically update for all children.

Reporting

With reporting, only child admins can view their sites reporting.
